Getting Started With Exercise: A Beginner-Friendly Approach

Starting an exercise routine can feel overwhelming, but it doesn't need to be. Begin with something manageable: a 15–20 minute daily walk is a strong foundation on its own.

From there, gradually introduce light stretching to support flexibility, and basic strength exercises like bodyweight squats or wall push-ups a few times a week. If you work at a desk, simple office stretches every hour can offset long periods of sitting.

The most important principle for beginners is injury prevention: increase intensity gradually, listen to your body, and prioritise consistency over intensity in the first few months.
